As per instructions, I lightly oiled the grates the first couple of uses. Thereafter, I clean them with the grate tool and a brush. They are now seasoned and are non-stick. So far, I’ve cooked chicken, steak, peppers and asparagus. All have turned out beautifully, with nice grill marks and cooked to perfection. I get the grates heated up on high and then turn the burners to low. The grates hold heat extremely well and make it very easy to get things cooked just right. Excellent product and fast delivery too!
